Another snow day layout

I lifted this layout directly from Jennifer Gallacher's YouTube channel. I loved her version and knew I had many of the same products. I had loved that My Mind's Eye chevron paper so much but didn't know how to use it on a layout. It seemed to overwhelm everything, so I had resigned myself to using the B side. But Jenn managed to use it and created a bold and balanced layout.  She used a black and white photo but I wanted to use this photo and it was a photo that was given to me, so I couldn't change it. I still think it worked and doesn't get too lost in all the pattern. All the paper and most of the embellishments are from the Kate and Co kit- which I love so much but hardly ever use because I have a hard time with such bright bold paper. The brads and buttons are from my stash.

Anyway it's a layout about my mom and I guess it's a personality page. Initially I was going to journal about what's been going on with her health and memory, but that ended up being such a downer. So I decided to talk about what she still does and what has changed. I cut the title with my Cricut Expressions machine. I don't use my cricut enough.  I have been very tempted to upgrade to a Cameo, especially when I see all the cool cut files out in the scrapbook world,  but I don't use the machine I actually have enough to justify such an expense. Maybe with all the money I am saving by not buying any new product, I will treat myself to a Cameo or a Cricut Explore. Has anyone out there tried the Explore?

  1. Looks great. I have that same paper line too, and need to finish it up. Kudos on the not spending for new product. I've been mostly good since the first of the year - and clearly better than last year. So we should take pride in that. I too need to use my Cricut more - maybe I need to find some videos to walk me through some projects. Well, now, your post really got me thinking this a.m. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Pretty details on this page! I'm not a Cameo/Cricut owner - I like the thought of owning one to create my own titles, embellishments easily, but where in the world would I put it? I just don't know...and then taking the time to learn how to use it. Maybe one day :)
