Kitting up

I miss my monthly scrapbook kits. I miss the excitement of opening the bag and seeing all the new goodies I get to play with. Of course, I couldn't keep up with them and my stash exploded with unused product. So, in an effort to keep with my goal of no new products, I have been creating my own monthly kits to scrap with instead. In this way I have the ease of ready made color combinations, and the virtue of stash busting. I do admit, I don't get the same zing as I do from a new kit, but it's working out pretty well.

I decided to go with blues, pinks and grays for this month's kits with a little green tossed in. I have Little Yellow Bicycle paper from 2009 and MME embellishments from 2013 and a range of products from the years in between.  I was glad that I had that MME mustache sticker. I didn't actually like the mustache trend that hit last year. But with this wonderful photo of my friend Jody and I in our Groucho Marx glasses, I knew at last I had a layout on which to use it.

I apologize for the terrible lighting on the page. It's a dark day here in Baltimore. I suppose I could wait and photograph all my layouts on nice days, but honestly this blog wouldn't happen if I had to do that. The background paper is blue, not gray and all the colors are a bit brighter and cheerier than they are in the photo. Ah well. Embrace imperfection and all that. Cheers.

  1. Great page and I really like the lovely soft color scheme, and the cute arrows. I need to put together a kit for March from my stash, because I'm starting to feel the itch to order.

    1. I have been spending way too much time nosing around the Studio Calico site. I am too addicted to shopping.
